Job summary

The Family Place in Dallas, TX is seeking a Hotline Counselor who will be the first point of contact for survivors in crisis, providing compassionate crisis support and immediate safety assessments to help protect lives.

You will answer calls about shelter, safety, or resources, conduct intake for residents, offer referrals and safety planning, maintain accurate records, and support staff and volunteers through training and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, criminal justice, and/or related human services field preferred.
• Minimum one year of crisis intervention and/or domestic violence hotline is required, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Bilingual, English / Spanish, may be required for some roles.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first point of contact for survivors seeking help in crisis.
• Answer hotline calls for shelter, safety, or resources.
• Assess immediate risk and develop safety plans.
• Conduct intake assessments for new shelter residents.
• Provide referrals and safety planning when shelter is unavailable.
• Maintain accurate client records and assist training staff.
