Job summary

Houston Area Women's Center in Houston, TX seeks a Bilingual Crisis Hotline Counselor to provide real-time support to survivors through two 24-hour hotlines. The role includes intakes, crisis intervention, safety planning, and referrals across agency programs.

The position is full-time with a day shift, hybrid work, and on-call rotation. Qualified candidates have at least a high school diploma, bilingual Spanish/English, and experience in social services or call centers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Active college enrollment with a related major.
• Bachelor's degree preferred in social services fields.
• Minimum 6 months experience in social services or call center.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
• Bilingual in Spanish and English (read, speak, and write fluently).
• Valid Texas driver’s license with reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis intervention, emotional support, information and referrals to survivors.
• Conduct danger assessment and creates safety plans for clients.
• Provide shelter screening and coordinate shelter placement and emergency transport.
• Make CPS and APS reports as required.
• Keep accurate client and hotline data/records for monthly reports.
• Communicate with on-call staff and community partners.
• Attend mandatory meetings and trainings with staff.
• Conduct intakes and assess client needs for documentation.
