Responsibilities

• Assists the assigned student with self-help and self-care skills such as moving between rooms, using the lavatory, and toileting assistance.
• Performs simple errands and tasks for the student such as sharpening pencils and carrying lunch trays.
• Accompanies the student to the office or to other areas of the building as appropriate.
• Establishes positive relationships with the student to encourage independent functioning.
• Participates in professional development related to the job/assignment.
• Facilitates the integration of the student into the regular classroom.
• Maintains cooperative relationships with other staff members.
• Supervises arrival and dismissal of students when required.
