Chicago Public Schools on the Southwest Side is seeking a bilingual paraprofessional to support special education students in elementary and high schools. The role is under the supervision of a licensed teacher and involves one-on-one tutoring, personal care assistance, and helping students with daily living skills and behavior management.

The position requires a valid ISBE paraprofessional license (or eligibility with 60 college credits), plus CPR training.

Qualifications

• Must possess valid ISBE paraprofessional license or eligible with 60 college credits.
• Bilingual in English and another language.
• Ability to read, speak and write in English and another language.
• CPR training required or to be completed as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist Special Education teachers in reinforcing instruction for students with disabilities.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and personal hygiene assistance.
• Assist in daily living skills and with assistive devices.
• Keep notes and maintain written records of student behavior; accompany students on class trips.
