Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer I, BESS to create preliminary BESS designs and review designs prepared by others. The role supports hybrid work with in-office presence in San Diego, CA, Edison, NJ, Bend, OR, or full remote options.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• EIT certification or on track to obtain it.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
• Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles, including wire sizing, current calculations.
• Basic knowledge of applicable building codes, engineering principles, and industry best practices.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
• Commitment to safety
• Strong sense of urgency

Responsibilities

• Create preliminary BESS layouts and single line diagrams using templates.
• Perform review of bid drawings to internal standards and document differences.
• Review RFPs and evaluate against our standard designs. Documents and communicate unique specifications to necessary parties.
• Work with Business Development and Estimating to ensure an appropriate response to an RFP.
• Perform basic electrical engineering calculations to support design.
• Create and modify electrical engineering drawings using AutoCAD.
• Research and stay current on electrical codes/standards, including NEC and NFPA 855.
• Participate in design reviews and collaborate with other engineering disciplines and project teams.
• Assist in the preparation of technical reports, calculations, and specifications.
• Maintain design revision/iteration history and project documentation.
