Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Design Engineer I to create preliminary BESS designs and review others' work. This role can be hybrid with in-office presence in San Diego, CA, Edison, NJ, Bend, OR or fully remote. Location specifics will be discussed in the interview.

You will perform basic electrical calculations, draft with AutoCAD, and collaborate across disciplines to deliver compliant, safe designs. A bachelor’s in EE and EIT track are required, with proficiency in AutoCAD, Word, Excel, Teams, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• EIT certification or on track to obtain it.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
• Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles, including wire sizing and current calculations.
• Basic knowledge of building codes, engineering principles, and industry best practices.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
• Commitment to safety and a strong sense of urgency.

Responsibilities

• Create preliminary BESS layouts and single line diagrams using templates.
• Review bid drawings against internal standards and document differences.
• Review RFPs and evaluate against standard designs; communicate unique specifications.
• Perform basic electrical engineering calculations to support design CAD drafting.
• Create and modify electrical engineering drawings using AutoCAD.
• Research NEC/NFPA 855 and stay current on applicable codes and standards.
• Participate in design reviews and collaborate with other engineering disciplines and project teams.
• Assist in preparing technical reports, calculations, and specifications; maintain revision history.
