Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. in the United States is seeking a Design Engineer I, BESS to create preliminary BESS designs and review others’ designs. This role supports hybrid work with in-office presence in San Diego, CA, Edison, NJ, Bend, OR or fully remote.

Specific location details and expectations will be discussed during the interview process. You will perform BESS layouts, single-line diagrams, bid drawing reviews, RFP evaluations, basic electrical calculations, CAD drafting in AutoCAD, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• EIT certification or on track to obtain it.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
• Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles, including wire sizing, current calculations.
• Knowledge of building codes, NEC/NFPA 855, and industry best practices.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy; able to work independently or in a team.
• Commitment to safety and a strong sense of urgency.

Responsibilities

• BESS Design Support: Create preliminary BESS layouts and single line diagrams using templates.
• Review bid drawings to internal standards and document differences.
• Evaluate RFPs and communicate unique specifications to necessary parties.
• Collaborate with Business Development and Estimating on RFP responses.
• Perform basic electrical engineering calculations to support design.
• CAD Drafting: Create and modify electrical drawings using AutoCAD.
• Code/Regulatory Research: Stay current on NEC and NFPA 855.
• Project Collaboration: Participate in design reviews with engineering disciplines and project teams.
• Documentation: Prepare technical reports, calculations, specifications, and keep revision history.
