Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Design Engineer I, BESS to create preliminary BESS designs and review designs produced by others. You will develop layouts and single line diagrams and support bid-drawing reviews with internal standards.

The role offers a hybrid work model with in-office presence in San Diego, CA, Edison, NJ, Bend, OR or fully remote. A Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering and an EIT or on-track certification are required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (required).
EIT certification or on track to obtain it.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles (wire sizing, current calculations).
Knowledge of building codes and industry best practices (NEC/NFPA 855).
Strong attention to detail and safety mindset.

Responsibilities

Create preliminary BESS designs and single line diagrams.
Review bid drawings against internal standards and document differences.
Review RFPs and evaluate against standard designs; communicate specifications.
Perform basic electrical calculations to support design.
Create and modify drawings using AutoCAD.
Participate in design reviews and collaborate with project teams.
Prepare technical reports, calculations, and specifications; maintain documentation.
