Job summary

The Salvation Army in Michigan is seeking a Benefits Specialist to administer medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and PTO programs. You will assist with enrollment, open enrollment, leave management, and compliance with federal requirements.

You will collaborate with payroll to verify deductions, process benefits termination, handle inquiries, and support new employee orientation; responsibilities include workers' compensation and HRIS/ATS usage.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent related experience.
• 2+ years HR experience preferred.
• Confidentiality is essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist employees with enrollment in benefit programs as needed.
• Coordinate benefits and open enrollment with providers.
• Process leaves of absence (FMLA, PLOA) and maintain records.
• Respond to benefit plan inquiries and support new-hire orientation.
• Coordinate payroll reports to verify deductions with payroll.
• Prepare benefits termination paperwork as required.
• Process workers' compensation claims.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
