Job summary

The Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Department of Social Services is seeking a dynamic Benefit Programs Trainer to join our Training Unit. You will develop and deliver instructor-led trainings on SNAP, Medicaid, TANF, Energy Assistance, LTSS and other relevant programs, and create engaging materials to support staff competence.

You will stay current with local, state, and federal policy changes, evaluate training effectiveness, and collaborate with managers to address learning needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social work, sociology, psychology, or related field.
• Minimum 2–3 years of professional training or instruction.
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in Social Services.
• Experience with public assistance programs (SNAP, Medicaid, TANF, etc.).
• Strong communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver instructor-led trainings on SNAP, Medicaid, TANF, Energy Assistance, LTSS and related benefit programs.
• Create and maintain training materials (presentations, manuals, SOPs, desk aids, online resources).
• Facilitate engaging learning environments for adult learners.
• Stay updated on policy changes and program updates at local/state/federal levels.
• Evaluate training effectiveness via assessments and feedback; adjust content accordingly.
• Provide ongoing support to Benefit Programs staff in applying guidelines.
