Job summary

LifeStream Behavioral Center is seeking a dedicated Behavioral Tech III to support inpatient units and maintain a secure therapeutic milieu in collaboration with nursing and other disciplines.

The role emphasizes direct patient contact, participation in treatment planning, and aiding in discharge processes while ensuring confidentiality and quality documentation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with admission of consumers, including taking vital signs and orienting to the unit.
• Support treatment planning and provide assistance as needed on the unit.
• Complete TEAM physical restraint and de-escalation training as required.
• Take routine vital signs and report significant changes to the Charge Nurse.
• Assist in organizing consumer group and recreational activities.
• Help with discharge procedures and organization of consumer belongings.

Job description

Job Purpose:- The Behavioral Tech III position is integral to the efficient functioning of the Inpatient Units. They will, by virtue of their role, have primary patient contact and, in that role, will have influence on patient treatment and progress. As such, Behavioral Techs are professional staff members with responsibility for maintenance of a secure therapeutic milieu in cooperation with a variety of disciplines, most importantly the nursing staff.Key Responsibilities:- Help with the admission of consumers, including taking vital signs, bath and shampoo, if necessary, body check, checking for hazardous objects, listing valuables and personal possessions, and orienting the consumer to the unit.- Assist in individual needs assessment, treatment plan formulation and implementation, if necessary, for your unit- Ability to successfully complete initial and annual Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM) physical restraint training and verbal de-escalation training.- Take vital signs routinely, and as indicated by the Charge/Unit Nurse, and report any significant changes or elevations.- Carry out assigned duties in caring for consumers who require more than routine observation and care.- Assist in the organization and execution of consumer group/recreational activities.- Assist Unit Secretary and nursing personnel with discharge procedures, such as getting consumer ready, gathering consumers’ belongings and stripping consumer’s beds.- The ability to comply with the regulations requiring a workplace of dignity and respect and equal employment opportunity compliance.Required Education:- High school diploma or equivalent required- CNA preferredRequired Experience:- Minimum of Two (2) years’ experience in substance abuse and mental health setting is required- Experience in providing direct care and support to individuals with mental health disorders.- Desirable to have experience working with psychiatric or co-occurring consumers of all agesRequired Skills and Abilities:- Strong understanding of mental health disorders and treatment modalities.- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with clients and team members.- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.- Proficient in documentation and record-keeping practices.- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism.- Competency in using basic computer applications and electronic health record systems.LifeStream BenefitsHealth/Dental/Vision InsuranceShort Term DisabilityPension Plan403(b)Paid Time Off (Over 4 weeks your 1st year!)Flexible Work SchedulesTuition Reimbursement ProgramFree Telehealth ServicesHRSA Loan Forgiveness ProgramAnd More!Important NoticeAs part of our hiring process and in compliance with Section 435.04, Florida Statutes, certain positions require a Level 2 background screening.
