Job summary

LifeStream Behavioral Center, Inc. is seeking a Behavioral Tech III to support inpatient units with primary patient contact and contribute to treatment progress. The role emphasizes maintaining a secure therapeutic milieu in collaboration with the nursing team.

Responsibilities include intake support, observation reporting, de-escalation training, treatment plan assistance, activity organization, and careful documentation in SmartCare. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in substance abuse and mental health setting.
• Desirable to have experience with psychiatric or co-occurring consumers of all ages.

Responsibilities

• Assist in admission of consumers, including vital signs and basic intake.
• Report observations to the Charge/Unit Nurse.
• Complete TEAM physical restraint and verbal de-escalation training.
• Assist in needs assessment, treatment plan formulation and implementation.
• Organize and conduct consumer group/recreational activities.
• Provide care for consumers requiring more than routine observation.
• Document in SmartCare system as required.
• Monitor self-administration of medication in assigned programs.
• Participate in in-service trainings and adhere to policies.

Job Purpose:- The Behavioral Tech III position is integral to the efficient functioning of the Inpatient Units. They will, by virtue of their role, have primary patient contact and, in that role, will have influence on patient treatment and progress. As such, Behavioral Techs are professional staff members with responsibility for maintenance of a secure therapeutic milieu in cooperation with a variety of disciplines, most importantly the nursing staff.Key Responsibilities:- Help with the admission of consumers, including taking vital signs, bath and shampoo, if necessary, body check, checking for hazardous objects, listing valuables and personal possessions, and orienting the consumer to the unit.- Report all pertinent observations, changes in physical signs or symptoms, changes in emotional behavior and consumer’s eating habits to the Charge/Unit Nurse.- Ability to successfully complete initial and annual Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM) physical restraint training and verbal de-escalation training.- Assist in individual needs assessment, treatment plan formulation and implementation, if necessary, for your unit- Assist in the organization and execution of consumer group/recreational activities.- Carry out assigned duties in caring for consumers who require more than routine observation and care.- If required, ensure proper documentation is completed in SmartCare system- Monitor the self-administration of medication for assigned programs- Participate consistently in all in-service training programs.- Willingness to abide by the company’s published rules and regulationsRequired Education:- High school diploma or equivalent requiredRequired Experience:- Minimum of Two (2) years’ experience in substance abuse and mental health setting isrequired- Desirable to have experience working with psychiatric or co-occurring consumers of all agesRequired Skills and Abilities:- Strong understanding of behavioral health principles and practices.- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.- Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in high-stress situations.- Proficient in using electronic health records and other relevant technology.- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions quickly.- Ability to work with diverse populations and demonstrate cultural competence.- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.LifeStream BenefitsHealth/Dental/Vision InsuranceShort Term DisabilityPension Plan403(b)Paid Time Off (Over 4 weeks your 1st year!)Flexible Work SchedulesTuition Reimbursement ProgramFree Telehealth ServicesHRSA Loan Forgiveness ProgramAnd More!Important NoticeAs part of our hiring process and in compliance with Section 435.04, Florida Statutes, certain positions require a Level 2 background screening.
