Job summary

LifeStream is seeking a Behavioral Tech II to support adults in a residential treatment setting in Leesburg, Florida. You will supervise daily living activities, monitor safety, and work closely with nursing to maintain a therapeutic environment.

The role requires strong communication, teamwork, and the ability to adapt to change, with emphasis on de-escalation and medication monitoring within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CNA preferred.
• Minimum of one year experience in substance abuse and mental health setting required.
• Familiarity with healthcare or behavioral health environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in needs assessment, treatment planning and implementation.
• Learn and apply daily routines and principles of mental health nursing.
• Report observations and changes to the Charge/Unit Nurse.
• Complete TEAM training for physical restraint and de-escalation.
• Monitor self-administration of medication for the unit.
• Observe and report medication side-effects to supervisor.
• Participate in in-service trainings.
• Assist with discharge procedures and patient belongings.

Job description

Job Purpose:- Adult Choice is a substance abuse residential facility serving adults with substance use and/or cooccurring mental health disorders. The Behavioral Tech II position is integral to the efficient functioning of Adult Choice. They will, by virtue of their role, have primary consumer contact and, in that role, will have influence on consumer treatment and progress. As such, Behavioral Techs are professional staff members with responsibility for supervision and assistance in daily living skills, ensuring safety and well-being of consumers, as well as maintenance of a clean, secure therapeutic environment in cooperation with a variety of disciplines, most importantly the nursing staff.Key Responsibilities:- Assist in individual needs assessment, treatment plan formulation and implementation, if neccessary for Adult Choice unit- Learn and apply to the daily routine, as soon as possible, the principles of mental health nursing.- Report all pertinent observations, changes in physical signs or symptoms, changes in emotional behavior and consumer’s eating habits to the Charge/Unit Nurse.- Ability to successfully complete initial and annual Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM) physical restraint training and verbal de-escalation training.- Monitor the self-administration of medication for assigned program- Monitor consumers for undesirable side-effects to medication and informs supervisor when necessary- Participate consistently in all in-service training programs.- Assist Unit Secretary and nursing personnel with discharge procedures, such as getting consumer ready, gathering consumers’ belongings and stripping consumer’s beds.- The ability to comply with the regulations requiring a workplace of dignity and respect and equal employment opportunity compliance.Required Education:- High school diploma or equivalent required.- CNA preferredRequired Experience:- Minimum of One (1) years’ experience in substance abuse and mental health setting is required- Familiarity with healthcare or behavioral health environment.Required Skills and Abilities:- Strong understanding of behavioral health principles and practices.- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with patients and team members.- Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in high-pressure situations.- Proficiency in using electronic health records and other healthcare-related software.- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing situations.LifeStream BenefitsHealth/Dental/Vision InsuranceShort Term DisabilityPension Plan403(b)Paid Time Off (Over 4 weeks your 1st year!)Flexible Work SchedulesTuition Reimbursement ProgramFree Telehealth ServicesHRSA Loan Forgiveness ProgramAnd More!Important NoticeAs part of our hiring process and in compliance with Section 435.04, Florida Statutes, certain positions require a Level 2 background screening.
