Job summary

Monarch Healthcare is seeking a Behavioral Specialist to support individuals with mental health, developmental disabilities, or substance use disorders in North Carolina. The role emphasizes person-centered planning, rights protection, advocacy, and community participation.

You will work to build positive relationships, implement personalized plans, and ensure safety and daily living supports while maintaining required documentation and training. Sleepovers may be required in some assignments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Valid driver’s license (USA).
• Experience working with individuals who have mental health diagnoses, intellectual/developmental disabilities, or substance use disorders preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess each person’s hopes and desires and provide supports to facilitate achievement.
• Assist people in participating fully in their community in line with their interests.
• Protect and promote the rights of each person and support advocacy efforts and the use of personal advocates.
• Provide emotional, physical, and social support as needed.
• Foster person-centered, positive relationships and promote self-determination.
• Contribute to assessment and planning processes and develop the individual’s plan.
• Implement the plan fully and document as required by policy.
• Complete daily progress notes, incident reports, timesheets and logs.
• Assist with daily living tasks such as housekeeping, meals, laundry, shopping, and transportation.
• Drive/travel as required and arrange transportation when needed.
• Ensure knowledge of emergency procedures and personal safety; perform safety drills.
• Link people to community resources and life skills training.
• Assist new staff with orientation, mentoring and training.
• Sleepovers may be required at a residential setting.
• Attend required meetings and trainings; maintain certifications.
• Follow all agency policies and state/federal regulations.
