Job summary

Monarch Healthcare in North Carolina is seeking a Behavioral Specialist to support individuals in achieving personal goals and dreams. The role focuses on person-centered care, community participation, and advocacy within licensed settings.

You will assess needs, promote self-determination, and collaborate with teams to implement personalized plans while ensuring safety and rights are upheld.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Valid USA Driver's License.
• Experience with people who have mental health diagnoses, intellectual/developmental disabilities, or substance use disorders is considered depending on population served, but is not required.

Responsibilities

• Assess each person for hopes, dreams, and desires and provide supports to help achieve them.
• Help people participate fully in their communities aligned with their interests.
• Protect and promote the rights of each person and support advocacy efforts.
• Provide emotional, physical, and social support as needed.
• Foster person-centered, positive relationships that promote self-determination.
• Contribute input into assessment and planning; help develop the individual’s plan.
• Implement plans fully and document as required by policy.
• Complete required documentation including goals, actions, incident reports, and timesheets.
• Maintain daily progress notes and communications to ensure goals are met.
• Assist with day-to-day home operations: housekeeping, meals, laundry, shopping, etc.
• Provide or arrange transportation as needed.
• Ensure knowledge of emergency procedures and personal safety.
• Use good judgment on safety issues and conduct drills and inspections.
• Help access community resources and social supports.
• Assist staff with orientation, mentoring, and training.
• Sleepover at residential settings may be required.
• Attend meetings and trainings; maintain certifications.
• Follow agency policies and state/federal regulations.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
