Behavioral Health Technician

Location: US-TX-Taylor

Overview

Cognito LLC, a joint venture of Planned Systems International (PSI), is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to support the ICE Health Services Corps (IHSC) at the T. Don Hutto Detention Center in Taylor, Texas.

As a civilian contractor, you will utilize your skills as a Behavioral Health Technician to provide high-quality healthcare to individuals in ICE custody. IHSC operates within ICE, DHS, and works alongside USPHS officers, civil service staff, and contractors to deliver healthcare services. IHSC serves as the medical authority for detainee health care.

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

• Conduct mental health screenings, patient care management, and facilitate psycho-educational groups.
• Support behavioral health services including patient education, wellness checks, sleep checks, and behavioral observations.
• Consult with Behavioral Health Providers to monitor patient compliance and safety.
• Schedule appointments, document in electronic health records, and coordinate follow-up care.
• Assist in providing direct services under licensed Behavioral Health Provider supervision, including data collection and behavior observation.
• Facilitate therapeutic groups and provide individual education and care.
• Develop behavioral interventions and gather patient information for diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Document observations and perform wellness checks and crisis management as needed.
• Maintain proficiency in electronic health records and adhere to relevant standards and regulations.

Minimum Requirements

• Associate's degree in behavioral science or related field.
• Certification: AAPT Level 3 within 12 months; current BLS or CPR certification.
• Two years of experience in mental health or residential healthcare.
• Ability to pass background checks, drug screening, and maintain required immunizations.
• Knowledge of therapeutic communication, psychiatric recovery, and clinical screening skills.
• Proficiency in electronic health records, Microsoft Office, and communication skills in English.
• Physical ability to respond to emergencies and perform physical tasks as required.

• Long periods of standing, walking, or jogging; lifting moderately heavy patients or equipment; responding swiftly to emergencies.
