Job summary

Specialized Education Services, Inc. (SESI) in Darien, IL is seeking a paraprofessional/behavior aide to support students with individualized needs under IEPs. You will work one-on-one, implement behavior plans, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.

This role involves de-escalation techniques, data tracking, and communicating with families to reinforce positive outcomes in inclusive classroom settings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma.
• Experience working in an educational setting implementing behavioral interventions for students with intensive behavioral needs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work one on one with an assigned student to meet goals set forth in their IEP.
• Assist in the development and modification of behavior support plans.
• Record and track data on behaviors, progress toward goals, and incidents.
• Utilize behavior support and intervention strategies.
• Implement de-escalation techniques, crisis management, and physical restraint if necessary to maintain safety.
• Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages social and behavioral development.
• Supervise students and ensure they are monitored, including to and from school locations.
• Work with interdisciplinary team members to ensure consistent implementation of behavior support plans.
• Provide personal care support dependent on the student’s needs.
• Communicate effectively with parents.
