Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Seattle is seeking a part-time onsite Lead Instructor for after-school BASE programs across multiple Edmonds elementary sites. You will guide elementary age participants through sports, arts, STEM and other hands-on activities within a safe, caring, and inclusive environment.

You will support the program supervisor, help teach teamwork and social-emotional skills, and assist during Play Everyday sessions.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older.
• 2+ years of experience with children (camp, childcare, tutoring, etc.).
• Ability to model YMCA values: caring, respect, responsibility and honesty.
• Experience planning and implementing group activities.
• Completion of STARS training or equivalent.
• CPR/First Aid certification; TB tests and MMR vaccination required.
• Food handler card and background check as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements culturally relevant activities within the Y curriculum.
• Supervises children to ensure health, safety and positive experiences.
• Guides staff/volunteers overseeing groups of children.
• Maintains day-to-day communications with parents/guardians.
• Follows YMCA policies including medical, discipline and safety procedures.
• Maintains site appearance and cleanliness; may prepare snacks.
• Assists at check-in/out for parents and supports Play Everyday as needed.
• Provides onsite support for school-based Play Everyday Program.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings; performs other duties as assigned.
