Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Seattle is hiring part-time on-site BASE instructors to guide elementary students through sports, arts, STEM, and learning activities before and after school. You will support the program supervisor, teach teamwork and social-emotional skills, and help run the Play Everyday Program at schools.

Roles include assisting at check-in/out, maintaining safe, engaging spaces, and collaborating with staff. Multiple locations and schedule details vary by school.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older and able to work with children.
• 2+ years of experience with children in camps, child care, tutoring, or nannying.
• Ability to model Y values and responsibilities with groups of kids.
• Experience planning and implementing group activities.
• Completion of minimum STARS training and CPR/First Aid certification.
• Food worker card and background check as part of onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate activities.
• Supervise groups of children for health, safety and positive experiences.
• Guide staff/volunteers overseeing activities.
• Communicate day-to-day with parents/guardians professionally.
• Follow YMCA policies, including safety and abuse prevention procedures.
• Maintain site appearance, decor and cleanliness.
• Assist with snack preparation and service; clean the snack area.
• Check in/out for parents and support school-based Play Everyday Program.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings; perform other duties as assigned.
