Job summary

Firstsource Solutions USA is hiring a Patient Financial Advocate to screen patients on-site for eligibility programs, either at bedside or in the ER, and provide information and reports to client contacts.

The role involves screening for State, County, and Federal programs, initiating applications, and maintaining compliant, confidential processing of patient data while ensuring follow-up communications with clients and patients.

Qualifications

• Must have basic computer skills.
• Able to communicate complex financial information to patients clearly and empathetically.
• Provide exceptional customer service and promptly address patient inquiries.
• Demonstrate compassion and professionalism when helping patients with financial challenges.
• Handle multiple patient cases and financial inquiries efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Review hospital census or referrals to identify self-pay patients.
• Screen patients for eligibility programs at State, County, and Federal levels.
• Initiate the application process bedside when possible.
• Assist patients with enrollment applications to appropriate agencies.
• Introduce Firstsource services and inform patients of follow-up contact.
• Provide transition to Patient Advocate Specialist to maintain patient relationships.
• Record patient information on the in-house screening sheet and update the onsite tracking tool.
• Identify self-pay outpatient/ER accounts and review available information.
• Face-to-face patient screening when possible; reach out by phone if needed.
• Document accounts when accepted in the hospital system and tracking tool.
• Perform field work including patient home visits to screen for eligibility.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with all laws and security policies.
