Job summary

Firstsource Solutions is seeking a Patient Financial Advocate to screen patients on-site at hospitals for eligibility assistance programs, either bedside or in the ER. The role reports to the Manager – Eligibility Services and requires effective communication of complex financial information to patients with empathy.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–3 years’ experience in medical coding, medical billing, eligibility (hospital or government) or other pertinent medical experience preferred.
• Previous customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Screen patients at hospitals for eligibility assistance programs at State, County, and/or Federal levels.
• Initiate applications at the patient’s bedside when feasible.
• Identify patient needs and assist with enrollment applications for appropriate agencies.
• Introduce patients to Firstsource services and follow up on progress.
• Record patient information on the in-house screening sheet and hospital system.
