Job summary

Trane Technologies is seeking a Service Controls Technician Intern to gain hands-on exposure to smart building automation and energy-efficient HVAC systems. You will work with senior technicians to support startup, commissioning, and BAS tasks at customer sites.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in BAS/HVACR programs with a strong analytical mindset and good communication skills, and you’ll access mentorship and a potential accelerated path into full‑time roles within the Trane controls family.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited program pursuing an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or technical certificate in Building Automation Systems (BAS) or HVAC/R technology.
• In good academic standing (2.8+ GPA preferred).

Responsibilities

• Shadow and support senior controls technicians during system startup, commissioning, point-to-point verification, and preventive maintenance on commercial BAS.
• Assist in uploading, downloading, addressing, and verifying Trane digital controllers (Tracer UC, Symbio, legacy platforms).
• Learn sensor verification, wiring terminations, and VFD integration.
• Communicate customer needs and provide automation educational resources.
