Job summary

Coast Guard Exchange (USCGCSC) is seeking a Bartender in Yorktown, VA (Intermittent, 0-19 hours/week). You will prepare drinks, maintain a clean, sanitary bar, handle cash, and monitor patron safety while following established procedures.

Requirements include experience with mixed beverages, cash handling, and physical ability to lift objects. Training on alcohol service is required, with annual refreshers, and a focus on safety and compliance. Preference for two years of bartending experience.

Qualifications

• Experience mixing alcoholic beverages for retail sale and ability to combine ingredients to create diverse drinks.
• Ability to identify intoxicated or unruly patrons and resolve issues or seek help as needed.
• Experience following proper cash handling procedures.
• Must be able to stoop, stand, and walk for long periods.
• Physically able to frequently lift 5–10 pounds, push/pull 10–20 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
• Must meet the minimum age for working with and serving alcoholic beverages.

Responsibilities

• Prepare alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks following established recipes.
• Keep bar clean, stocked, and sanitary, set up storeroom for easy access to stock.
• Run receipts, manage cash register, and maintain records of drinks and liquors in demand.
• Complete required alcohol service training; participate in annual refresher training and monitor patrons for safety.
• Adhere to safety regulations and sanitation procedures; report hazards or injuries to supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
