Job summary

The Coast Guard Exchange, MWR Academy Officer’s Club in New London, CT, seeks a Bartender-03 to mix and serve beverages for patrons and staff. You will handle payments, keep the bar stocked and clean, and ensure the area meets sanitation standards.

Requirements include experience with beverage service, cash handling, and the ability to stand and lift as needed. The role may involve intermittent hours and varying shifts, with training provided for alcohol service.

Qualifications

• Experience mixing alcoholic beverages for retail sale, or bartender training program completed.
• Ability to recognize intoxicated or unruly patrons and resolve issues or request assistance.
• Experience following proper cash handling procedures.
• Ability to stoop, stand, and walk for long periods; ability to lift 5–10 lbs frequently and up to 40 lbs occasionally.
• Must meet minimum age for serving alcoholic beverages.

Responsibilities

• Mix and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages.
• Set up bar and maintain sanitary conditions; ensure adequate stock levels.
• Process payments, operate cash register, and provide proper change.
• Complete required training and annual refresher on alcohol service.
• Identify and report unruly customers or safety hazards; follow procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
