Job summary

U.S. Coast Guard, MWR Academy Officer’s Club in New London, CT, seeks a bartender to mix and serve beverages, maintain bar sanitation, and manage stock. The role requires experience with alcoholic drinks, cash handling, and safety awareness, with the potential for up to 19 hours per week intermittent scheduling.

Starting pay is $19.09/hour, with benefits typical of Coast Guard programs. Applicants must meet age requirements for alcohol service and pass pre-employment checks as required.

Qualifications

• Experience mixing alcoholic beverages for retail sale.
• Experience recognizing intoxicated or unruly patrons and resolving the problem or seeking assistance.
• Experience following proper cash handling procedures.
• Must be able to stoop, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
• Must meet the appropriate minimum age requirement for working with and/or serving alcoholic beverages.
• One year experience as a bartender.

Responsibilities

• Mix and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages.
• Prepare drinks by selecting premix and garnish; knowledge of mixed drinks required.
• Serve patrons directly or deliver to wait staff; handle payments and cash register operations.
• Set up bar for operation and maintain sanitary conditions; ensure stock levels and organize storeroom.
• Complete required training for serving alcohol; observe safety regulations and report hazards.
• Other duties as assigned.
