Job summary

Hilton Garden Inn- Albany Medical Center is seeking a Banquet Server to provide high standards of food and beverage service at all functions. You will read the banquet event order (BEO), assist the captain with setup, greet guests, and serve menu items promptly and courteously.

Responsibilities include pre/post-shift side work, clearing tables, handling trays, and responding to guest requests while coordinating with the supervisor. Weekend/holiday availability is common for this role.

Qualifications

• Basic reading, writing and math skills required.
• Food service experience with knowledge of banquet operations.
• Good customer service and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Read a BEO and complete setup based on its details.
• Assist banquet captain in setting up buffet and other service as needed.
• Greet and serve guests in a prompt and courteous manner.
• Serve menu items according to the banquet event order and dining pace.
• Perform pre- and post-shift side work and setup tasks.
• Clear tables and remove trays to the kitchen for cleaning.
• Respond to guest inquiries and relay special requests to supervision.
• Notify captain when leaving floor or banquet area.
• Set up and breakdown banquet bars as directed.

Reports directly to the Banquet Captain. Job requirements include basic reading, writing, and math skills; food service experience with general knowledge of banquet operations; knowledge of different table settings and styles of service; and good customer service and interpersonal communications skills. Physical requirements include walking and standing for the majority of each shift; carrying and lifting items (i.e.. plates, utensils, trays, tables) frequently.Job Duties Include, but not limited to:Be able to read a BEO and know how to complete a setup based on information contained therein.Assist captain in setting up buffet and other special food service as needed.Greet and serve guests.Serves menu items to guest in a prompt and courteous manner and according to the banquet event order; times the service of courses to correspond with the dining pace of the guest.Performs pre- and post-shift side work; set-up, condiments, etc.Clears tables after service. Removes trays of dirty dishes, silverware and glassware to kitchen for cleaning.Responds to guest inquiries and reports special requests promptly to ensure guest satisfaction; notifies supervisor of guest complaints or unusual situations.Always notify the Captain or Supervisor before leaving the floor or banquet service area.Set-up, land breakdown banquet bars, as assigned according to standard policies and procedures.
