Job summary

The Vendue, part of Avocet Hospitality Group, seeks a Banquet Captain to orchestrate unforgettable group events in Charleston. You will be the host and master of ceremonies, owning BEOs and directing the on‑floor team.

You’ll supervise banquet staff, coordinate with culinary and sales teams, and step in with swift problem solving to ensure flawless experiences. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months as banquet or full-service dining server.
• Prior supervisory experience is a major plus.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Direct the production of Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) to ensure flawless events.
• Supervise, mentor, and coordinate banquet servers, bartenders, and setup teams.
• Coordinate with Group Sales and culinary teams to ensure precise timing and equipment needs.
• Serve as the primary client liaison on the floor, solving issues with flair.

The Role (Your Script)

As our Banquet Captain, you aren't just managing events; you are the ultimate host, orchestrator, and master of ceremonies for unforgettable group experiences.

• Direct the Production: Take full ownership of Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) to execute flawless events that leave our clients thinking, "Damn, that was good fun."


• Lead the Ensemble: Supervise, mentor, and bring out the best in our banquet servers, bartenders, and setup teams. You set the stage for high energy and seamless teamwork.


• Coordinate the Magic: Partner with Group Sales, our exceptional culinary team, and outside partners to ensure every detail—from specialty equipment to timing is absolute perfection.


• Steal the Show: Act as the direct liaison and primary point of contact for our clients on the floor , jumping in with swift problem-solving and artistic flair whenever needed.

What You Bring

• The Experience: Minimum of 6 months as a banquet or full-service dining server. Prior supervisory experience or a background in high-volume event execution is a major plus.


• The Mindset: A vibrant, welcoming attitude and an uncompromising eye for detail. You are organized under pressure, self-motivated, and inherently collaborative.


• The Certifications: Ready to shine with South Carolina Alcohol Server Certification (may be obtained in the first 30 days) and ServSafe Food Handler (company-paid).


• The Flexibility: Ready to keep things moving untethered from a desk, stepping across our historic indoor spaces and rooftop venues. A flexible schedule (including evenings, weekends, and holidays) is part of the gig.
