Job summary

Kroger is seeking a Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) to deliver an outstanding customer experience in a fast-paced department. You will assist the department manager in achieving sales goals, maintain a clean, safe environment, and help customers with product selections and questions.

You will handle bakery items, use equipment like ovens and slicers, and ensure product quality and accuracy of portions. Previous bakery/deli exposure is helpful; strong customer service is essential.

Responsibilities

• Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) prepares items per customer requests using bakery equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover items they'd like.
• Inform customers of bakery and deli specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products and correct portions to prevent shrink.
• Recommend deli or bakery items to meet customers' needs.
• Operate bakery equipment per company guidelines (refrigerators, ovens, etc).
• Prepare foods according to temperature logs and cooking instructions.
• Measure, mix ingredients using kitchen tools.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Ensure product quality and check sell-by dates; take action as needed.
• Maintain proper temperatures in cases and logs.
• Report discrepancies to the department manager.
• Understand store layout to locate products for customers.
• Stay current with ads and product knowledge.
• Respond to customer questions and make product suggestions.
• Maintain awareness of inventory and stocking conditions.
• Promote trust and respect among associates; create welcoming environment.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and safety procedures.
• Notify management of accidents; inspect equipment and address repairs.
