Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies is hiring for a Bakery/Deli Clerk responsible for providing excellent customer service, preparing bakery items to customer specifications, and maintaining a clean, safe, and inviting department. You will assist the department to meet sales and quality goals while following all safety guidelines.

The role requires good communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Previous bakery/deli experience is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover items.
• Inform customers of bakery/deli specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products and ensure correct portions.
• Recommend deli or bakery items to meet customer needs.
• Use bakery equipment (refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens) per guidelines.
• Prepare foods according to temperature logs and recipes.
• Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients with kitchen utensils.
• Package and inventory ingredients and products.
• Check product quality and review sell-by dates.
• Use kitchen equipment (stove, scale, fryer, steamer) correctly.
• Label, stock, and inventory merchandise.
• Report discrepancies to the department manager.
• Know store layout to locate products on request.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Gain knowledge of products and respond to questions.
• Maintain inventory awareness and address discrepancies.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers with logs.
• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an welcoming environment and assist customers.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and safety procedures.
• Inspect equipment and notify management of repairs.
• Report customer or employee accidents.
• Work cooperatively in high paced and stressful environments.
