Job summary

Kroger is seeking a Grocery Clerk in the Bakery/Deli department to deliver an outstanding customer experience through attentive service. You will help maintain a safe, clean store environment and assist the department manager in achieving sales and quality standards.

Responsibilities include preparing items per customer orders, offering samples, promoting specials, and ensuring accurate stock and temperature controls. Prior bakery/deli experience is helpful, with required food handler knowledge.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in bakery or deli is helpful.
• Must obtain or already hold a current food handler permit.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) prepares items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials and promotions.
• Provide customers with fresh products in correct portion sizes as ordered.
• Advise customers on deli or bakery items to meet their needs and preferences.
• Operate bakery equipment (refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens) per guidelines.
• Prepare foods according to temperature logs and cooking instructions.
• Measure and mix ingredients using kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Label, stock and inventory merchandise; ensure product quality and dates are maintained.
