Job summary

Speechify is seeking a backend engineer to own the APIs powering payments, subscriptions, auth, and analytics across web and apps. You will design, build, and maintain scalable services in TS/Node, deployed on cloud platforms.

You’ll collaborate with product, mobile, and web teams, ensure correctness, automate repetitive work, and drive high-availability deployments using Docker and Kubernetes. This is a senior role with significant impact in a fast-growing, mission-driven company.

Qualifications

• Proven backend experience with TS/Node
• Direct experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure)
• Ability to reason about logs and database state to verify results
• Experience deploying and operating high-availability services
• Ability to automate repetitive tasks and improve efficiency
• Comfort in a fast-moving, async-work environment

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own the APIs behind payments, subscriptions, auth, consumption tracking, and the public TTS API
• Optimize services for speed, cost, and reliability
• Establish correctness checks before shipping and automations to reduce manual intervention
• Turn one-off work into repeatable processes for the team
• Design B2B and enterprise integrations on top of the platform
• Collaborate with product, mobile, and web teams to keep backend architecture aligned with product roadmap
