Job summary

Speechify is seeking a backend-focused software engineer to own server-side APIs and services powering payments, subscriptions, auth, consumption tracking, and the public TTS API across web, iOS, Android, Mac, Chrome, and extensions. You will drive reliability, scale, and maintainability, cut latency, and collaborate with product and frontend teams to shape the platform roadmap.

Qualifications

• Proven backend experience with TypeScript/Node.js.
• Direct experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Familiarity with AWS or Azure.
• Experience delivering reliable and scalable backend services.
• Experience with containerized deployments (Docker) and Kubernetes.
• Strong diagnostic mindset and ability to prune unnecessary work.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own backend APIs for payments, subscriptions, auth, consumption tracking, and the public TTS API.
• Improve performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency of services.
• Ensure changes are correct before shipping and embed checks for future safety.
• Automate repetitive tasks and enable the team to scale through reusable components.
• Collaborate with product, mobile, and web teams to keep backend architecture aligned with product goals.
• Design B2B integrations and support enterprise needs on top of Speechify APIs.
• Partner with product to drive roadmap and maintain high availability across clients.
