Job summary

Speechify is hiring for a backend-focused role in the United States. You will design, build, and own the APIs behind payments, subscriptions, auth, and the public TTS service, ensuring correctness and efficiency across multiple clients and billing systems.

The ideal candidate has strong TS/Node experience, direct GCP work history, and a habit of automating and sharing work. Docker, Kubernetes, and high-availability deployments are preferred assets.

Qualifications

• Backend experience in TS/Node is required.
• Direct experience with GCP; working knowledge of AWS/Azure.
• Habit of delegating work and showing measurable outcomes.
• Daily workflow with AI agents and automation.
• Check results against logs, DB state, and actual requests.
• Judgment on what not to build and why.
• Preference for containerized deployments and high-availability.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own the APIs behind payments, subscriptions, auth, consumption tracking, and our public TTS API.
• Take on services you didn’t write and make them faster, cheaper, and harder to break.
• Establish correctness before shipping and leave behind checks for correctness.
• Automate repetitive parts of the role to enable broader impact.
• Turn personal work into reusable patterns for the team.
• Design B2B and enterprise integrations on top of Speechify.
• Collaborate with product, mobile, and web to keep backend ahead of product direction.
