Job summary

Speechify is seeking a senior backend engineer to own the APIs behind payments, subscriptions, auth, and analytics. You’ll design, build, and scale services that serve millions across web and mobile, ensuring correctness and low latency at high volume.

You’ll work with TS/Node, cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure), and containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes), in a distributed, async culture. The role offers a strong impact, competitive compensation, and a path to leadership through ownership

Qualifications

• Proven backend experience with TypeScript/Node.js required.
• Direct experience with Google Cloud Platform; working knowledge of AWS, Azure, or another cloud.
• Strong habit of handing off work and creating reusable, scalable components.
• Experience designing and operating high-availability backend services.
• Focus on logs, metrics, and correctness across distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own the APIs behind payments, subscriptions, auth, and our public TTS API
• Improve and harden services to be faster, cheaper, and less error-prone
• Validate changes with thorough checks and robust rollback plans
• Automate repetitive tasks and promote repeatable patterns across the team
• Replicate and share useful work across the team to raise overall quality
• Design B2B and enterprise integrations for customers building on Speechify
