Job summary

Speechify is seeking a senior backend engineer to own and scale the backend services powering payments, subscriptions, auth, and analytics for millions of users across platforms. You’ll design robust APIs, improve system reliability, and collaborate across product, mobile, and web teams.

Ideal candidates have strong TS/Node experience, hands-on cloud expertise (GCP/AWS/Azure), and a track record deploying containerized apps with Docker and Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• Proven backend experience in TS/Node.
• Direct experience with GCP; working knowledge of AWS, Azure, or another cloud.
• Design scalable APIs and own backend services.
• Experience with containerized deployments (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Ability to automate and improve reliability of systems with a bias for correctness.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own the APIs behind payments, subscriptions, auth, consumption tracking, and our public TTS API
• Take on services you didn't write and make them faster, cheaper, and harder to break
• Establish that a change is correct before it ships, and leave behind checks for correctness
• Automate routine parts of your role and expand what you work on
• Turn single-use work into reusable work for the team
• Design B2B and enterprise integrations for customers
• Collaborate with product, mobile, and web to keep backend ahead of product direction
