Job summary

Eliassen Group is seeking a Backend Engineer for a remote contract role. You will design, build, and maintain server-side applications and RESTful APIs using Java and Spring, and deploy and operate workloads on AWS, applying best practices for security and performance.

Qualifications

1 to 4 years of backend development experience with Java.
Proficiency with Spring or Spring Boot.
Experience deploying and operating workloads on AWS.
Familiarity with relational databases and SQL.
Experience with API design, versioning, and documentation.
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and source control workflows.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using Java and Spring.
Develop, deploy, and operate services on AWS using managed services and infrastructure best practices.
Write clean, testable, and maintainable code with unit and integration tests.
Monitor application performance and troubleshoot production issues.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine requirements and deliver features.
Implement security, logging, and observability standards.
