Job summary

Eliassen Group is seeking a Backend Engineer for a remote, contract role in the United States. You will design, build, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using Java and Spring, with deployments on AWS and emphasis on security and observability.

Ideal candidates have 1–4 years of backend experience, strong Java/Spring skills, and familiarity with AWS, databases, and CI/CD. W2 benefits and competitive hourly pay are provided.

Qualifications

• 1 to 4 years of professional backend development with Java.
• Hands-on experience with Spring or Spring Boot.
• Experience deploying and operating workloads on AWS.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and data models.
• Familiarity with relational databases and SQL.
• CI/CD pipelines and source control workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using Java and Spring.
• Develop, deploy, and operate services on AWS using managed services and infrastructure best practices.
• Write clean, testable, and maintainable code with unit and integration tests.
• Monitor application performance and troubleshoot production issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine requirements and deliver features.
• Implement security, logging, and observability standards.
