Eliassen Group is seeking a Backend Engineer for a remote contract engagement. You will design, develop, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using Java and Spring, with deployments on AWS and cloud infrastructure best practices.

Candidates typically have 1 to 4 years of backend development experience, strong Java/Spring skills, and familiarity with databases, API design, and CI/CD. This W2 role offers competitive hourly pay and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• 1–4 years of professional backend development experience with Java.
• Hands-on experience with Spring or Spring Boot.
• Experience deploying and operating workloads on AWS.
• Familiarity with relational databases and SQL.
• Experience with API design, versioning, and documentation.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and source control workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using Java and Spring.
• Develop, deploy, and operate services on AWS using managed services and infrastructure best practices.
• Write clean, testable, and maintainable code with unit and integration tests.
• Monitor application performance and troubleshoot production issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine requirements and deliver features.
• Implement security, logging, and observability standards.
