Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Data Center Technician to maintain and repair server hardware and networks across AWS data centers.

The role includes handling on-call rotations, travel between data center sites as needed, and collaboration with engineers, vendors, and contractors to ensure high availability of AWS services. The position requires 18+ months of hardware troubleshooting and 1/2 level networking experience, plus willingness to work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation.

Qualifications

• 18+ months of computer/server hardware troubleshooting or related IT experience.
• 18+ months of computer layer 1/2 networking experience (including troubleshooting and repair).

Responsibilities

• Perform server rack installations, hardware break-fix on various components, troubleshoot network issues, respond to operational incidents that impact service availability, and carry out routine network, server hardware, and operating system repairs to contribute to the overall availability of AWS services.
• Serve as a primary contact point for both internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors.
• Perform on-call duties and participate in scheduled maintenance and change management activities.
• Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues.
• Help interview, train and onboard new team members.
