Job summary

Symetra seeks an AVP, Claims Strategy and Process Innovation to transform disability and absence management operations through technology, automation, and data-driven decision making. Youll partner with Claims, Technology, Product, Compliance, Legal, and Operations to drive growth and improve customer outcomes.

You will lead major claims system initiatives, including FINEOS enhancements, and build scalable, efficient processes that deliver measurable business impact.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of leadership experience in disability, absence management, employee benefits, or claims operations.
• 10+ years working with FINEOS claims platforms.
• A strategic claims or absence management leader with deep expertise in disability and leave administration.
• Experience in large-scale operational transformation, process improvement and technology modernization.
• Strong partnerships and influencing outcomes across complex organizations.
• Data analytics and operational insights to drive performance.
• Knowledge of FMLA, ADA, ERISA, and Paid Family & Medical Leave.

Responsibilities

• Lead the strategy and roadmap for claims transformation, process innovation, and operational excellence.
• Partner across Claims, Technology, Product, Compliance, and Legal teams to deliver scalable solutions.
• Serve as the business lead for major claims system initiatives, including FINEOS enhancements and modernization.
• Drive process improvement and automation opportunities that reduce complexity.
• Translate business needs into future-state operating models and technology solutions.
• Establish metrics, governance practices, and reporting frameworks.
• Lead organizational readiness, change management, and adoption strategies.
• Leverage data and insights to identify opportunities and improve outcomes.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to stay competitive.
• Influence strategic priorities and investments with executive leadership.
• Build and develop high-performing teams with a culture of innovation.
