Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an Avionics Technical Designer to develop ruggedized electronics enclosures and sensor packages for spaceflight systems. You will create LRU drawings, ICDs, and interface definitions, applying GD&T per ASME standards while coordinating with electrical, thermal, and structural engineers.

You will lead design reviews, ensure requirements are met through analysis and testing, and guide manufacturing during installation, all while aligning with safety and quality goals.

Qualifications

  • AS degree in drafting and design or equivalent design experience.
  • Proficient with CreoView and Windchill.
  • Working knowledge of aerospace materials and treatments.
  • Proficient with drafting standards ASME Y14.100, Y14.5, Y14.41.
  • Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620, NASA-STD-8739.4 or AS50881.
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T).
  • 3+ years of recent electronics packaging experience on Avionics LRUs and sensor enclosures.
  • Ability to earn trust and collaborate in a culture of inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop 2D and 3D models and drawings for ruggedized electronics enclosures and sensor packages.
  • Create and maintain LRU and sensor/harness installation drawings, specifications, and ICDs.
  • Apply GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards.
  • Manage drawing release, revision control, and configuration data within Windchill.
  • Collaborate with electrical, thermal, and structural engineers to support electronics development.
  • Validate design requirements through analysis, test, or inspection.
  • Provide technical guidance to manufacturing during hardware installation and integration.
  • Support design reviews with documentation, drawing packages, and presentations.
  • Report schedule milestones and risks to engineering leadership.
  • Ensure designs comply with aerospace materials, finishes, and treatments.
