Job summary

Blue Origin in Colorado is seeking a Mechanical/Aerospace Engineer to design ruggedized electronics enclosures for avionics used in lunar missions. You will create 3D CAD models, perform GD&T, and collaborate across Electrical, Systems, and Manufacturing to ensure robust integration.

The role emphasizes high-reliability packaging in harsh environments, including thermal and vibration analyses, with opportunities to contribute from concept through production while supporting procurement and test

Qualifications

  • B.S degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience designing ruggedized electronics enclosures.
  • Experience with static structural, modal, random vibration, and thermal analysis.
  • Strong mechanical design and integration skills using 3D CAD software and FEA tools.
  • Familiar with GD&T and ASME Y14.5 standards.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute as a member of a cross disciplinary team in a fast-paced design environment.
  • Participate in the entire design cycle of flight and mission critical avionics.
  • Support developmental trade studies.
  • Create mechanical interface definitions, specifications, and control documents.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineering to incorporate PCB and interconnect systems, including thermal/structural analysis.
  • Design avionics enclosure solutions for performance and high reliability in harsh environments.
  • Create 3D CAD models and drawings, and manage product lifecycle revisions.
  • Build and evaluate prototype assemblies; create assembly aids and test fixtures.
  • Review assembly instructions and support hardware builds; assist with procurement activities.
  • Communicate project status and schedule adherence.
