Job summary

Blue Origin in Colorado is seeking an Avionics Mechanical Design Engineer to design rugged avionics enclosures for various spacecraft. Your role will focus on protecting critical electronics and ensuring their reliability during launch and space environments.

The ideal candidate will have a B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with at least 2 years of relevant experience. Strong CAD skills and knowledge of ruggedized electronics protection are essential for this exciting opportunity.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical, Aerospace or similar engineering discipline.
• 2+ years designing electro-mechanical avionics assemblies.
• Strong 3D CAD skills, especially in Creo/Pro-E.

Responsibilities

• Design rugged avionics enclosures that survive launch and space environments.
• Partner with electrical engineers to integrate and protect PCB systems.
• Conduct critical thermal and structural analyses to ensure reliability.

Skills

B.S. in Mechanical, Aerospace or similar engineering discipline

2+ years designing electro-mechanical avionics assemblies

Strong 3D CAD skills (especially Creo/Pro-E)

Experience with GD&T implementation (ASME Y14.5)

Background in ruggedized electronics protection

Knowledge of PCBA integration, manufacturing, and connector selection

Experience with EMI shielding, thermal management, and structural protection

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment

Education
