Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an avionics design engineer to support CAD models and design documentation for Lunar missions. You will work with Electrical, Systems, Manufacturing, and other teams to develop ruggedized enclosures and assemblies for spaceflight applications.

The role requires a B.S. in mechanical/aerospace engineering, 2+ years of enclosure design experience, and familiarity with GD&T and ASME Y14.5. Relocation and travel may be involved.

Qualifications

  • B.S degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering is required.
  • 2+ years of experience designing ruggedized electronics enclosures.
  • Experience with static structural, modal, random vibration, and thermal analysis.
  • Strong mechanical design and integration using 3D CAD and FEA tools.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute as a member of a cross disciplinary team in a fast-paced design environment.
  • Participate in the entire design cycle of flight and mission critical avionics.
  • Support developmental trade studies.
  • Create mechanical interface definitions, specifications, and control documents.
  • Collaborate with the electrical engineering team to incorporate PCBs and interconnect systems, including thermal and structural analysis.
  • Design avionics enclosure solutions for performance and high reliability in harsh environments.
  • Create 3D CAD models and assemblies, drawings, and other technical documentation.
  • Manage revisions of product design configurations through the lifecycle.
  • Build and evaluate prototype assemblies.
  • Create assembly aids and test fixtures.
  • Review assembly instructions and support hardware builds.
  • Assist with procurement activities.
  • Communicate project status, progress, and schedule adherence.
  • Manage schedules of product design configurations through the lifecycle.
