Job summary

West Star Aviation in East Alton, IL is seeking a Sheet Metal Technician to work on turbine aircraft structures, reading blueprints and drawings, and using fastening systems. You may supervise crews and prioritize projects on busy hangar floors.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with Airframe and Powerplant license preferred, and a valid driver’s license is ideal. Expect drilling, riveting, sealing, and tool maintenance in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Basic to advanced knowledge of turbine aircraft structures.
• Ability to read blueprints and work from drawings.
• Knowledge of fastening systems, procedures and techniques.
• May supervise crews and organize manpower and set priorities.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic sheet metal operations such as drilling, riveting, cutting on airframe and components.
• Application and removal of sealant, sound deadening and finish materials.
• Maintenance, cleaning and repair of shop facilities, equipment and tooling.
• Basic computer skills to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance data bases.
• Communicate effectively in English.
• Other job-related duties assigned by supervisor or management.
