AtkinsRéalis is seeking an Aviation Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in Houston, TX. The role includes training, mentoring, and assisting experienced engineers in preparing drawings for airport-related civil projects such as runways and taxiways.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a Civil Engineering degree with 60 hours completed; knowledge of MS Office and CAD tools is preferred. This internship offers hands-on experience, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • No prior experience required beyond being enrolled in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program.
  • Must have completed 60 hours toward a civil engineering degree from an ABET accredited program by the internship start.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in focused training, team meetings and present notes or results.
  • Receive coaching and mentoring to complete assignments or projects.
  • Collaborate with engineers to assist in producing engineering drawings for airport projects including runways, taxiways, and related infrastructure.
  • Research project site conditions and regulatory specifications.
  • Perform field observations of construction where appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Overview

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an Aviation Engineering Intern – Summer 2027 to join our Houston, TX office.

Your Role
  • Participate in focused training, team meetings and present notes or results.
  • Expect to receive coaching and mentoring to enable you to complete assignments or projects to develop your skillset.
  • Collaborating alongside experienced engineers to assist in various operations production of engineering drawings for airport and airport-related civil engineering projects including runways, taxiways, aprons, roadways, parking lots, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Research project site conditions, and/or regulatory agency specifications or regulations.
  • Perform field observations of construction where appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.
About You
  • EXPERIENCE: No experience is generally required if accepted into an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree program in a related technical field.
  • EDUCATION: Must have completed 60 hours towards a civil engineering degree from an ABET accredited program by the start of the internship.
  • SPECIAL SKILLS: Math skills to perform simple calculations; willingness to learn. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation (preferred).

Expected compensation range is between $25 - $31 hourly depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
