Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an Aviation Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in Houston, TX. You will work with experienced engineers on airport-related civil projects, learn through coaching, and develop technical drawing skills for runways, taxiways, and supporting infrastructure.

The role emphasizes training, field observation opportunities, and collaboration across teams, with mentorship and a structured intern development program.

Qualifications

  • No experience is generally required if accepted into an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program in a related technical field.
  • Must have completed 60 hours towards a civil engineering degree from an ABET accredited program by the start of the internship.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; AutoCAD or MicroStation experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with experienced engineers on airport and civil projects including runways, taxiways, aprons, roads and parking areas.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Overview

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an Aviation Engineering Intern – Summer 2027 to join our Houston, TX office.

Your Role
  • Participate in focused training, team meetings and present notes or results.
  • Expect to receive coaching and mentoring to enable you to complete assignments or projects to develop your skillset.
  • Collaborating alongside experienced engineers to assist in various operations production of engineering drawings for airport and airport-related civil engineering projects including runways, taxiways, aprons, roadways, parking lots, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Research project site conditions, and/or regulatory agency specifications or regulations.
  • Perform field observations of construction where appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.
About You
  • EXPERIENCE: No experience is generally required if accepted into an Associate'S or Bachelor's degree program in a related technical field.
  • EDUCATION: Must have completed 60 hours towards a civil engineering degree from an ABET accredited program by the start of the internship.
  • SPECIAL SKILLS: Math skills to perform simple calculations; willingness to learn. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation (preferred).

Additional Information

Expected compensation range is between $25 - $31 hourly depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
