Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Austin, TX, is seeking a Construction Engineering Intern to assist CEI staff on roadway, bridge, drainage, and utility projects. You will review plans, track submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project correspondence while coordinating with engineers, inspectors, and contractors.

The role emphasizes safety, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. Candidates should be pursuing Civil Engineering with at least 60 credit hours completed by Summer 2027; MS Office proficiency

Job Description Overview

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Construction Engineering Intern to join our Austin, Texas office. Your Role Assist CEI staff with observing and documenting roadway, bridge, drainage, utility, and traffic-control activities on active transportation construction projects. Review construction plans and specifications with project staff to understand contract requirements. Support the tracking and coordination of contractor submittals, RFIs, change-order documentation, action items, and project correspondence. Coordinate with engineers, inspectors, contractors, and project personnel while following safety requirements and procedures in active construction environments. Prepare spreadsheets, meeting notes, status reports, and progress updates. Assist project staff with verifying construction quantities and preparing pay-estimate documentation.

About You

• Experience: No experience is generally required if accepted into an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program in a related technical field.
• Education: Must have completed 60 credit hours toward a Civil Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program by the start of the internship in Summer 2027.
• Special Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Strong attention to detail, communication skills, willingness to learn, and ability to work safely in both office and active construction environments.

Additional Information

Expected compensation range is between $25 - $31 hourly depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
