Job summary

STR’s Collaborative Autonomy and Control (CAC) Group in the AC2 Division is seeking an Autonomy Algorithms Lead Software Engineer in a hybrid role based in Woburn, MA or Arlington, VA. You will design, develop, integrate, and demonstrate advanced autonomy algorithms for unmanned platforms, with technical leadership across the lifecycle and collaboration with researchers to translate concepts into software.

You will mentor a small engineering team, drive best practices in testing and code

Qualifications

• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility; U.S. citizenship required.
• BS in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 5+ years of backend development experience with C++ or Java.
• Proven ability to lead engineering teams (5+ engineers) through Agile lifecycle.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and concurrency.
• Experience developing, implementing, integrating, and testing autonomy algorithms and software.
• Not interested in front-end UI/UX or database management/interaction.
• Ability to translate complex mathematical concepts to software applications.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, integrate, test autonomy algorithms and software.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring on programs across the development lifecycle.
• Develop diverse software tools for mission planning, automated control, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with researchers to transition mathematical algorithms into software applications.
• Lead system/software architecture design and coordinate with internal leadership and external customers.
