Job summary

STR’s Analytics & C2 Division seeks an Autonomy Algorithms Lead Software Engineer in Arlington/Hybrid. You will lead design and implementation of advanced autonomy algorithms for unmanned platforms, mentor engineers, and drive software from prototype to integrated systems.

Requirements include a BS in CS or related field with 7+ years, 5+ years in C++/Java, strong data structures, and experience with Agile, DevSecOps, and system architecture. Clearances and US citizenship are required.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or related field with 7+ years of experience.
• 7+ years of experience in C++ or Java.
• Full stack development with a heavy backend algorithmic focus.
• Strong data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and backend optimization.
• Ability to develop, implement, test autonomy algorithms and software.
• Leadership of 5+ engineers through Agile lifecycle.
• Willingness to work hybrid; TS/SCI clearance and US citizenship required.
• Experience translating research concepts to software applications.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, integrate, test, and demonstrate advanced algorithms for autonomous platforms.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring across the software lifecycle.
• Develop tools for mission planning, automated control, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with researchers to translate complex math into software.
• Lead system/software architecture design and engage with customers.
